At the moment students and staff are going through a period of transition as they adjust to the dynamics of community life. Some of those who are new to Cornerstone find themselves reacting to the unique “Cornerstone Culture”, and may even experience culture shock.

“Transitions can be keenly anticipated or feared. They can be stepping stones to maturity and new stages of life or they can be fraught with uncertainty and inconclusiveness, and laced with pain” (W. D. Taylor).

Culture stress is defined as “the anxiety that results from losing all our familiar signs and symbols of social intercourse” (Oberg).
