librarianA good library is a great place to enjoy – at least for me. I love books. And the Cornerstone library consists of about 12,000 titles – books, magazines and more than 500 DVDs.

But what do you do if you have no library around the corner? If you have access to the internet, than this is another chance for you to get the information you need. The only question is: where do I find what I need among the millions of websites?

For missions and all related topics there is a great “gateway” site: www.mislinks.org. It is a free web-based directory of links to online resources for missions. It contains 60 pages full of links sorted according to topics, for example, Communicating divided into the pages Arts, Cape Town 2010, Contextualization, Contextualization of Theology, Intercultural Communication etc., or Ministering divided into Church Planting, Churches, Cross-cultural Teaching, Evangelism … Theology of Mission. Here you can dig deeper, and you are not getting lost as with search engines that give you ten thousands of hits. The website is maintained by A. Scott Moreau and was started in 1997 together with the late Mike O’Rear. For more information see Evangelical Missions Quarterly (EMQ), Vol. 48, No. 2, April 2012: The MisLinks Story, p. 234-237.

These two missiologists wrote a column in Evangelical Missions Quarterly (EMQ) from October 1997 (Vol. 33, No. 4) until April 2012 (Vol. 48, No. 2) called ‘Missions on the Web’ or ’Mission resources on the Web’. Here you can find a guide, an overview of websites to a specific topic with comments on it. This can help you to find quicker the resources you are looking for.

For those who feel overwhelmed by the 60 pages of MisLinks I suggest to look at the overview of Training Resources that EMQ listed on their website trying to filter those with the highest quality: http://www.emqonline.com/training-resources
